These wall lights feature an ornamental vocabulary closely resembling the ones designed by Pierre Contant d’Ivry and supplied by Thomas Germain to the Duc d'Orléans for the Palais-Royal, now at the J. Paul Getty Museum, which also incorporate floral motifs and a ribbon-knot detail (inv. 81.DF.96). Other wall lights from the 1770s and 1780s adopted these motifs, notably the set delivered in 1777 by Quentin-Claude Pitoin to M. Amelot, Minister of the King's Household, illustrated in P. Verlet, Les Bronzes Dorés Français du XVIIIe Siècle, France, 1987, p. 89, ill. 94.
