A silver vase

Signed Kagawa Katsuhiro kinkoku

Meiji period, late 19th century


the oviform vase with short everted neck, carved, chased and inlaid in gold, silver and shakudo with a heron among reeds

Nichiei Hakurankai Shinbijutsu Shuppin Zuroku (catalogue of Japan British Exhibition), (Tokyo, Administrative Office of Japan – British Exhibition, 1910)

Katsuhiro exhibited in many national and international exhibitions. He was appointed a professor at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts in 1903. In 1906 he joined the membership of Teishitsu Gigeiin (artists to the Imperial Household).
