Baluster form, richly embossed and chased with flowers, scrolls, a dolphin and a monkey, later engraved with a coat-of-arms, with an ivory handle, the later finial and stand modelled as one of the Howard crests,

The arms are those of the Dukes of Norfolk, likely for Bernard Edward Howard, 12th Duke of Norfolk (1765 – 1842).
For a silver-gilt cup, hallmarked for Paul Storr, London, 1831 and decorated with the same wings (wings gules each charged with a bend between six cross-crosslets fitchy argent) see The Lillian and Morrie Moss collection of Paul Storr Silver; Miami; 1972; plate 197.
According to family tradition, this pot was presented by the Countess of Carlisle as a prize in a local boat racing competition.
