Where acquired by Aso O. Tavitian.

This quartet of paintings depicting the four seasons recalls the work of Angelo Caroselli and were probably produced by a member of his circle active in Rome in the first half of the seventeenth century. Their unusual shape and copper support suggest they were originally conceived as part of a larger decorative ensemble, most probably an elaborate piece of furniture composed of pietre dure, or hardstones, into which they were inset.
