Description

the first, a two-coloured gold bonbonniere, Nicolas Marguerit, Paris, 1783, the lid centred with a chased rose gold sunflower within scrolls and two-coloured rope twist borders framing the reeded ground further engine-turned with flowers and pellets, the sides and base decorated en suite, maker’s mark, charge and discharge marks of Henri Clavel, Paris date letter O, later French control marks, 7.3cm., 2 7/8 in. diameter, overall weight 137 grams; the second, a two-coloured gold box, probably Colin Freres, Hanau, circa 1785, oval, decorated similarly to the first example, Hanau marks including makers mark CF crowned, later French control marks, 6.9cm., 2 ¾ in. wide, overall weight 78 grams; the third, a chased gold box, probably Jean Jacob Héritier, Hanau, circa 1780, oval, the lid and based chased with musical or military trophies on a sable ground, within zig zag borders, the sides chased with interlaced bands around flowers, maker's mark, 6.3 cm., 2 ½ in. wide, overall weight 69 grams
