elongated rectangular, all sides painted en plein with harbour scenes en grisaille, within gold paillon leaf frames, on a dark blue enamel ground, the spandrels painted to imitate moss agate, the gold mounts further embellished with translucent green and orange enamel bead borders, slender integrated thumbpiece, maker's mark FC crowned, 'Alaterre rosette', date letter, later import marks
