rectangular with cut corners, the lid painted en plein with a classically dressed couple and two children approaching a dove's nest suspended from a branch against an opaque black enamel background, flanked by turquoise enamel bands and an unusual geometrical border including engraved stars on a polished gold ground, the sides and base similarly decorated, maker's mark FJ crowned, sundial mark, small sprigs, the right rim numbered ?434, now cut
