Set of natural pearl and gold bangles, early 20th century


Comprising three polished gold bangles, two set with a round to roundish grey and a white natural pearl measuring approximately 8.50 - 8.70mm and 7.90 - 8.10mm respectively, the third set with a light brown non-nacreous pearl measuring approximatively 8.30 - 8.40mm, each inner circumference approximately 185mm, partial maker's marks, Austrian assay marks for gold.


Accompanied by SSEF report no. 131297, stating that the pearls were found to be natural, the grey and non-nacreous pearls were found to be saltwater, the white pearl was found to be freshwater.

These bangles were part of the estate of Archduchess Marie Therese of Austria-Teschen, Duchess of Württemberg (1845-1927). Originally the three pearls were set on buttons belonging to her husband Philipp, Duke of Württemberg (1838-1917). She later had them reset on these bangles and bequeathed them to one of her great-grandchildren.
