Description

beaker shaped body chased with strapwork on matted ground, bracketed vase-shaped stem, domed foot chased with strapwork and fruit, marked on body with city and maker, the foot with city mark, with later Hebrew inscription from Exodus 12:18

 

Height: 8 in., 20 cm

Inscribed around the lip, echoing Ex. 12:18: “In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, you shall eat unleavened bread and bitter herbs.” Presumably, this cup was meant for use at the Passover Seder.
