We are grateful to Prof. Marco Tanzi for endorsing the attribution to Altobello Melone and dating the painting to circa 1510–15, following inspection of digital images. This head of Christ can be compared to that in Melone's Lamentation, executed in about 1511, today in the Pinacoteca di Brera (inv. no. 2144).¹
