The David Style Collection, Christie's South Kensington, 12-13 January 2005, lot 420
The landowner and gentleman antiques dealer David L. Style (1913-2004) is best remembered for his acquisition in 1945 of Wateringbury Place, a Queen Anne House outside Maidstone, Kent that had been built for one of his ancestors, that he furnished with a significant collection of 18th-century English and French furniture, much of it with important English country house provenance.  This collection was dispersed at auction in 1978, in one of the 20th century's greatest landmark house sales.
