Fine early photograph signed and inscribed ("GiacomoPuccini...Londra 7.5.94"), on the image in violet ink


showing the composer in a characteristic pose, with a stylish coat and hat, c.21.5 x 13cm, cropped to the left, some wear to the right-hand edge, remains of some printed Italian verses to verso


The inscription is slightly cropped but appears to read "Londra"; the composer was there in May 1894, for the first UK production of Manon Lescaut at Covent Garden on the 14th.
