FIRST EDITION, ONE OF 1500 COPIES, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR, 8vo, green morocco, "Royal Welch Fusiliers" stamped in gilt to upper board


Inscribed by the author: "Eric Strauss from David Jones, March 23rd 1947". Strauss was the noted psychiatrist who treated Jones during his second nervous breakdown in 1947 (later treating Evelyn Waugh after the breakdown that inspired The Ordeal of Gilbert Pinfold, as well as Graham Greene). Jones served from 1915 to 1918, nearly died from trench fever, and suffered from severe shell-shock. Ownership ticket "E B Strauss, 81 Harley Street, London W1" pasted to the binder's blank. Impressively bound, presumably for presentation to the recipient.
