Crying Putto

polychromed limewood

21 by 15cm., 8¼ by 6in.

Overall in good condition with minor surface dirt and wear consistent with age. There are a few minor chips to the some of feathers of the wings. A joint is slightly visible at the bottom of the proper right wing. The polychromy appears to be largely original, but it is possible that some areas have been refreshed. There is wear to the polychromy, including chips and small losses, notably to the feathers of the proper left wing at the bottom. There is an indented area to the proper right shoulder at the back. There are three small holes at the back, presumably for former mounting. There is a modern metal ring at the back for hanging.
