Framed: 54.5 by 69.7cm., 21½ by 27⅜in.

Executed in 1878–80.


This work is accompanied by a crate signed by artist Ryuzaburo Umehara.

Executed on a sheet of cream laid paper, the sheet has been backed onto conservation paper, which is held in conservation corners on the mount. There is a repaired vertical tear to the centre of the upper edge and further smaller tears and losses to the edges of the sheet. There is a further small spot of restoration to the right of the line and one or two instances of skinning. There is time staining to the sheet. There are a few tiny spots of foxing and further tiny surface stains and a few small accretions. There is an artist's pinhole to the lower right corner. This work is in overall good condition.
