Portrait d’André du Bouchet

signed Alberto Giacometti and dated 1960. (lower right)

pencil on paper

49.7 by 32cm., 19⅝ by 12½in.

Framed: 61 by 47cm., 24 by 18½in.

Drawn in 1960.

The authenticity of this work has been confirmed by the Comité Giacometti and it is recorded in the Alberto Giacometti database as AGD 4444.

Executed on a full sheet of cream wove paper, not laid down and hinged to the mount with tape along the upper edge. The sheet undulates very slightly in line with the mounting. The left edge is deckled. There is a small crease to the lower left corner and a further small crease to the centre of the right edge. There are handling marks towards the edges. There is time staining and mount staining to the sheet. There are a few small accretions and a small number of tiny flecks of foxing. This work is in overall good condition.
