Gabbiani trained in Florence under Giusto Suttermans and Cesare Dandini, and then relocated to Rome where he was influenced by Pietro da Cortona. He settled in his native Florence and worked on commission for Grand Prince Ferdinando de Medici, the son of the Grand Duke Cosimo III.
