First edition of this rare early English work on the art of brewing
In this work, Yarworth provides an early study of English beer and describes the "right way" to refine and bottle beer and cider, containing chapters on methods of fermentation and distillation. It also includes a postscript on the qualities of the water in the River Thames. An advertisement on page 122 promotes various products: "Dr Y-worth's Pilula Anodyna Specificata & Cathartica, or the Friendly Balsamick Pill...Species Nostra Mineralis, or the Spagyrical Triumphant Powder...Cordonum Regale Lenitum, or the Royal Purging Cordial."
The author wrote several other works on distillation, including A New Art of Making Wines, Brandy, and Other Spirits (1691), and The Compleat Distiller (1705).
