The Workes of Our Ancient and learned English Poet, Geffrey Chaucer, newly Printed. London: Adam Islip, 1602

Folio (319 x 210 mm), edited by Thomas Speght and Francis Thynne, title in roman type within woodcut compartment (McKerrow & Ferguson 232), division title with woodcut arms of Chaucer, woodcut of Knight on B1 recto, black letter, double column, woodcut initials, head- and tail-pieces; lacking engraved portrait, occasional foxing and soiling, preliminary leaves toned, title trimmed and mounted on a new leaf (possibly supplied from another copy), [a3] outer margin extended, closed tears neatly repaired on c2, c4, M4, 3V3, rust spots costing a few letters to 2R3-4 and 3I3-4. 19th-century roan, covers gilt-ruled, spine gilt in 6 compartments; joints cracked but holding, boards scuffed.

Second Thomas Speght edition, seventh edition overall. "This edition considerably revised mainly with the aid of Francis Thynne. It is the earliest in which thorough punctuation was attempted, and in many other ways it is a distinct improvement upon Speght's first edition. Two hitherto unprinted pieces are inserted, one non-Chaucerian" (Pforzheimer).
