A gold and enamel snuff box, in 1770s style, probably 19th century


oval, the lid centred with an oval enamel plaque of putti painted en grisaille on a pale pink ground, within gold locket frame and translucent blue enamel framed by chased scrollwork, on a ground of alternating opaque pale blue and white enamel zig-zag bands around scarlet basse-taille floral ornaments, within a double white enamel rim interlaced with translucent green basse-taille enamel leaves, the sides and base similarly decorated, the base furthermore centred with an en grisaille enamel plaque representing Hercules fighting a three-headed dragon, apparently unmarked
