Description

A Louis XV Gilt-Bronze Mounted Green Stained Horn Bracket Clock with Alarm and Integral Bracket, Jean Baptiste Roisin, Paris, Circa 1745

6 1/4 inch twenty-five piece enamel cartouche dial signed Roisin A Paris on the concentric alarm disc, similarly signed movement with five knopped pillars, arched plates, verge escapement with silk suspension and outside numbered countwheel, the backplate mounted with the alarm barrel the waisted case veneered with green stained horn bordered with brass, surmounted by a winged putto with a torch, a bearded mask on the cresting, leaf mounts on the corners and a pair of doves on the lower door edge; the while closely mounted on a conforming ogee shaped wall bracket with a cockerel mount at the front and further mounts on the corners and the base, several mounts stamped with crowned 'C' tax mark.
