The Yellow Shawl

signed and dated 1939 (upper left)

oil on canvas

77 by 67cm., 30¼ by 26¼in.

Structure: The work does not appear to be on its original stretcher. There is an inscription on the lower stretcher bar which reads 'Restretched 18-5-1992'. The canvas appears unlined.

Surface: Colours are strong. There are several networks of light craquelure, largely confined to the background and parts of the yellow shawl. These lines are stable.

UV Report: Inspection under UV light reveals a few of areas of uneven fluorescent within the background which could indicate minor retouching, however no sign of repair.

Overall: This work appears to be in very good condition.

This work is framed.
