Nimai-do gusoku [armour]

Edo period, 17th century


the eboshi-nari kabuto [court cap shaped helmet] with small fukigaeshi [turnbacks], the five tier Hineno shikoro [neck guard] in kiritsuke kozane [false lamellae] and laced with kebiki odoshi [close-laced] in red and orange braid, the gilt kuwagata pierced with boar's eye, the black lacquer iron mempo with mouth slightly open, detachable nose and broad bristle moustache and chin tuft, silver lacquer teeth, four-tier yodare-gake [throat protector], red lacquer interior, the do [cuirass] hinged in two parts in gold lacquer honkozane [true lamallae], with sugake odoshi [open lace] in red and orange braid, the sode [shoulder guards] of six tiers, chainmail kote [sleeves], six tassets of five-tiered kusazuri [skirt], the lacing consistent throughout all parts, with shino sunaete, the reverse with gold lacquered ukezutsu [standard holder]
