In a reduced format, this painting reproduces the St Peter painted by El Greco in 1608, originally intended for the Church of San Vicente in Toledo, but bought by Philippe IV of Spain on the advice of Velasquez, and sited in the monastery of El Escorial, where it remains to this day.

Ce tableau reprend, en format réduit, le Saint Pierre exécuté par le Greco en 1608, à l’origine pour l’église Saint-Vincent de Tolède, mais acheté par Philippe IV sur les conseils de Vélasquez, et placé au monastère de l’Escurial où il se trouve encore aujourd’hui.
