the shaped guards mounted with gold crowns set with pearls, rubies and other stones, the leaf elaborately embroidered with foliate strapwork and with the crowned initials of Queen Emma III and King Willem III of the Netherlands and with the Dutch lion, in a case applied with the letters AJW

les panaches sommés de couronnes ornées de cinq perles et de pierres précieuses, la dentelle centrée des armes de Hollande, d'un E pour la reine née Emma de Waldeck-Pyrmont et d'un W pour le roi Guillaume III, chaque motif timbré d'une couronne princière dans un environnement de fleurs et de branchages, dans un coffret appliqué des lettres AJW

On January 7th, 1879, King Wilhelm III of the Netherlands married Princess Emma Waldeck-Pyrmont. This King was firstly married to Princess Sophie Wurttemberg, with whom he had two sons. King Wilhelm III and Princess Emma had together a daughter, Wilhelmine, who reigned over Holland as her two half-brothers died before their father.

Le 7 janvier 1879 le roi Guillaume III des Pays-Bas épouse la princesse Emma de Waldeck-Pyrmont. Ce roi avait épousé en premières noces la princesse Sophie de Wurtemberg dont il eût deux fils. Le roi et la princesse Emma eurent ensemble une fille, Wilhelmine, qui règnera sur la Hollande, ses deux demi-frères étant morts avant leur père.
