The canvas has an old relining, the paint surface is dirty and the varnish is discoloured. There is a superficial surface scratch in the background above the parrot, and a pinprick loss at the bottom of the girl's chin. Inspection under ultraviolet light is almost entirely impeded by the milky varnish, which fluoresces opaquely. There are some small retouchings at the margins, particularly in the right half of the lower margin, and there appears to be a very small area of retouching in the girl's forehead, too. The painting appears to be otherwise largely free of intervention, however. It is in overall very good condition and will be transformed by cleaning.
