The reference 2415 from Patek Philippe was made between 1952 and 1959 and has become affectionately named the ‘Flying Saucer’ and ‘Short Lugs’ by collectors. The reference was made only in yellow and pink gold and in small numbers, thought to be less than 100 in pink gold, of which only 3 have returned to the market. At 36mm it was considered a large case size at the time, enhanced further by hidden crown, discreet lugs, and narrow 18mm lug diameter giving a larger presence on the wrist. The 3-part case featured a snap on case back concealing a manual wound Caliber 12-400 and a Stern Freres dial with long lapidated’ bullet indexes and small running seconds at 6.
