circa 1900

acid-etched cameo glass, silver

twice signed Gallé with a French silver hallmark

20 in. (50.8 cm) high

9 3/4 in. (24.8 cm) diameter of shade

Overall in very good condition. When viewed firsthand, the lamp displays a cool cornflower blue coloration. The acid-etched glass presents with surface irregularities, occasional air bubbles and particulate inclusions inherent in the making. The glass surfaces with very light scattered scratches, minor abrasions, scuffing and light discolorations throughout consistent with age and gentle use and contact with the metallic elements over time. The silver mounts present with scattered scratches, scuffing, discolorations and traces of oxidation throughout consistent with age. The recessed contours of the design with some light surface soiling. Sotheby's does not guarantee electrical components and recommends having all wiring inspected by a licensed electrician.
