"Landscape" Vase

circa 1900

acid-etched, enameled and gilt cameo glass

signed Daum/Nancy with the Croix de Lorraine

13 3/8 in. (34 cm) high

Overall in very good condition. The vase overlays a number of details and decorative techniques onto its small area, including glass teardrop forms applied to the neck, gilt thorny branches that sinuously climb the surface and a fine harvest landscape scene on the bulb. The acid-etched glass presents with irregularities, occasional air bubbles and particulate inclusions inherent in the making. The glass surfaces with very light surface scratches and scuffing throughout consistent with age and gentle use. The vase with a few small flecks to the rim, only visible upon close inspection. The gilt and enameled decoration presents with some scattered minor losses, consistent with gentle handling and not visually distracting. The neck of the vase with a small trace of white residue, not visually distracting. The interior with some light soiling.
