12mo (155 x 98 mm). Title-page with woodcut vignette; marginal pinholes to each leaf, stray spots. In contemporary morocco calf, red morocco label supralibros of José Paulino Alvarado on upper board, boards ruled in gilt decoration, spine in six compartments with repeat gilt motif, red edges; spine restored and with loss at head, upper board chipped, rubbed at extremities. In a quarter red morocco clamshell box.


Mexico's first constitution as a sovereign state. The 1824 constitution provided for a federal republic, consisting of nineteen states, four territories, and the federal district of Mexico City. Also included in the volume is the Acta Constitutive de la Federacion Mexicana, which established the provisional government. A handsome edition of this foundational document, which also paved the way for the colonization of Texas.
