Algernon Cecil Newton

Algernon Cecil Newton was a British landscape architect who exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1919 onwards. He is particularly interested in depicting urban views of dwellings, uninhabited streets and other elements of life dominated by often tormented skies in the tradition of a Thomas Jones. Newton wrote that "There is beauty in everything, you just have to look for it; a gasometer can make as beautiful a picture as a palace on the Grand Canal in Venice. It simply depends on the artist's vision."

Algernon Cecil Newton est un paysagiste britannique qui exposa à la Royal Academy à partir de 1919. Il s’intéresse en particulier à la représentation de vues urbaines montrant des habitations, des rues inhabitées et autres éléments de la vie dominés par des ciels souvent tourmentés dans la tradition d’un Thomas Jones. Neton écrivit que "Il y a de la beauté dans chaque chose, il suffit de la chercher; un gazomètre peut faire un aussi beau tableau qu'un palais sur le Grand Canal à Venise. Cela dépend simplement de la vision de l'artiste".
