autograph manuscript poem ("The tide of Time was at my feet"), here entitled "Stanzas"
18 lines in three six-line stanzas, signed and dated ("Mary W. Shelley - Harrow - 26th July 1833") with a note at the head in another hand ("By the Author of Frankenstein"), 1 page, 4to (226 x 187mm, watermarked "J. Whatman | Turkey Mill | 1833"), integral blank
A POEM OF LOSS AND ABANDONMENT, which probably reflects the end of the author's relationship with Aubrey Beauclerk in the summer of 1833. Mary Shelley revised the poem in 1834 and this earlier text was first published in 1969.
