Qing dynasty, 18th-19th century


shaped after an archaic bronze vessel, the pear-shaped body quartered on each side with high rounded ridges dividing the sides into four panels and flanked by two lug handles at the neck, the buff coloured jade with paler cloudy inclusions and a fine polish

There are several natural veins running through the stone, one of them running into the base, a second across one handle and with an associated small chip. Minute nicks to the sharp edges of the rim, the handles and foot. Two natural flaws and scattered smaller flaws to one side of the vase. The stone with a lovely polished surface.
