A fine painted silk hatchment from the State Funeral Carriage of Vice-Admiral Viscount Nelson, 1805


the field divided to black and white and painted with escutcheons bearing the impaled arms for Lord and Lady Nelson, surmounted by a Viscount’s coronet, together with a hand-coloured contemporary print, depicting the Funeral-Car, the print published by S.W. Fores, No. 50 Piccadillym Jan.y 13th 1806; both items framed

60 cm. high, 46cm. wide; 1ft. 11 1/2 in., 1ft. 6n;

the print, 24cm. by 23cm, 9 3/4 by 9in;

Most probably Dr. Charles Davies (1813-1888) and thence by descent until sold;
Spink, London, 18th March 1997, lot 134.
