A Roman Marble Herm Head of the Young Dionysos
circa 2nd Century A.D.
his centrally parted hair bound in a fillet passing over the forehead and surmounted by twin clusters of ivy berries, two long strands of hair falling over the now missing shoulders, the back carved flat and with three lead tenons; plaster restorations to nose, chin, right cheek, and cluster of berries.
Height 18 cm.
private collection, early 20th Century or earlier (based on restorations, lead tenons in back, and overall patina)
