A Roman Marble Figure of Zeus
circa 2nd Century A.D.
seated on a throne with turned legs and holding the thunderbolt in his lap in his left hand, the right arm formerly raised, and wearing sandals and himation draped over his left shoulder and around his lower body; no restorations.
Height 33 cm.
Repaired across right hand and thunderbolt.
Head and proper right corner of throne broken off.
Shallow circular mortise in drapery over proper left shoulder for attachment of a now missing separately-carved raised left arm.
Chips, abrasions, and scratches, especially on protruding parts.
Good surface on the whole, with some original polish preserved.
Rust stains on base between and behind feet.
