A Louis XVI gilt and silvered-bronze quarter repeating mantel timepiece after Francois Vion, Paris, circa 1780


3-inch enamel dial with inner date track, finely pierced paste-set hands, the bezel set with white pastes, the movement with verge escapement, pull quarter repeating on two bells, the cadrature mounted on the backplate, the drum surmounted by a seated winged female hold a portrait medallion of King Louis XVI, the frame and crown set with white pastes, all mounted on the back of a well modelled lion, the plinth with laurel swags, on turned feet
