oval, gadrooned border, the field intricately engraved with a ground of dots and circles surrounded by a scrolling vine leaf border, the centre engraved with a coat-of-arms within a drapery cartouche

The arms are those of Sykes impaling Tatton for Elizabeth, Lady Sykes (1748-1803), daughter of William Tatton of Wythenshawe, Cheshire and widow of Sir Christopher Sykes, 2nd Bt. (1749-1801) of Sledmere, Yorkshire. He, who succeeded to the title and an estate of some 30,000 acres upon the death of his father in 1783, was M.P. For Beverley, Yorkshire between 1784 and 1790. A double portrait of Sir Christopher and Lady Sykes was painted in 1786 by George Romney.
