Joséphine des Isnards was admitted to the Paris School in 1832 and was active as a painter at Sèvres from 1835-48. She painted botanical specimens included in a service ordered from Sèvres in 1838-40 by King Louis Philippe for Narcisse-Achille, Comte de Salvandy, (1795-1856), Ministre de l'Instruction Publique (1837-39) and (1845-48), Ambassador to Madrid (1841), and Turin (1843). The majority of this service was sold by Christies, 30th June 1986, lot 222. Six plates from this service, including one painted by Joséphine des Isnards, were sold at Sotheby's London, April 13, 2011, lot 227.
