The panel is formed of three horizontal planks. The lower join is supported on the reverse with block battens and the panel as a whole is flat and stable, with a clean paint surface and clear and even varnish. A slight degree of wear is visible throughout the paint surface. Inspection under ultraviolet light is impeded somewhat by the shiny varnish but reveals some strengthenings in and around the grapes, a line of retouching along the lower join, and what appear to be quite broad areas of retouching to the side and top of the table, and throughout the background. The peaches are likewise retouched, and there are some fine strengthenings around the stem of the vessel on which they sit. Despite these the paintings appears bright and legible and is ready to hang.
