Several variations of this compositional scheme by Binoit exist, featuring a porcelain bowl and an open window, often with a bird perched there observing the still life scene below.1 A painting that is particularly comparable to the present lot, of slightly smaller dimensions, was sold at Christie's, London, 7 July 2006, lot 191 (fig. 1).2
