CARTA EXECUTORIA DE HIDALGUÍA, FOR PEDRO PEREZ DE YBARRA OF SALAMANCA

folio (283 x 206mm.), manuscript on vellum, 42 leaves sewn in a single quire with red, white and yellow twisted thread, 36 lines to a page in a rounded script, ruled in red, first and last leaves blank, second leaf with full-page illuminated armorial, a few headings in gold on coloured grounds, various signatures at the end of the document, penultimate leaf with later addition dated Salamanca, 12 August 1592, contemporary Spanish calf gilt with owl, lion and star stamps, purple edges, lead seal (with portrait of the king on one side and his arms on the other) attached with the twisted thread, stubs visible of 4 pairs of red silk ties, binding and seal somewhat rubbed
