This work was made around the same time period as the previous lot. Conceptually, it alludes to a similar thought process as the previous work – referring to a wall or a veil. It is reminiscent of a jali or latticed screen seen in Mughal architecture creating a divided between public/private; masculine/feminine; here and there. Or it could also reference the chilman – a delicate screen made from bamboo – traditionally used inside homes to provide relief from the heat of Indian summers.
