Property from a Private Collector, New York
welded bronze and copper
24 1/2 in. (62 cm) high
21 3/4 in. (57 cm) maximum diameter
Overall in very good condition. The patinated bronze surfaces have been cleaned by a professional conservator and present with oxidation throughout concentrated to the base and one side of the bush, consistent with age and the artist’s intent. The patina and oxidation to the metal varies from a powdery teal to russet brown and charcoal grey. One side of the Bush with a slightly more pronounced darker area to the tip of the branches. The base with great variety in the texture of the metal which is inherent to the making as well as with spotty and very minimal soiling which is not visible unless closely inspected. The central stem with a triangular structure which is unusual and enhances the artistic quality of the piece. Overall a few of the stems are very slightly misaligned as is typical. A superb Bush form with wonderful scale and sculptural presence.
