AN ARCHAISTIC PALE CELADON JADE CENSER

QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY

清十八世紀 青玉雕夔龍紋獸耳活環簋式爐


of gui form with a spreading foot, the rim set with a pair of beast-mask-form handles each suspending a loose ring, the body divided into panels by notched vertical flanges, each panel carved in low relief with a coiled kuilong against a leiwen ground, the foot with abstracted cicadas also divided by flanges, bands of chevron at the edge of the foot and rim, the stone a pale green color with a cluster of white inclusions at one side
