Bound in one volume (12 3/4 x 9 in.; 323 x 228 mm). Volume 7 lacking numbers 2–7, 10–12, 14–17, 26, 31–32, 38, 44, volume 8 complete; minor wear and soiling. Nineteenth-century quarter buckram, gilt-lettered, boards; some wear. The consignor has independently obtained a letter of authenticity from PSA that will accompany the lot.


The first English-language newspaper in China. The paper was published in Canton (now Guangzhou) from 1827 to 1843. Rare.
