Text booklet with photographic covers and 7 black paper folders with green printed labels (all 12 1/2 x 10 3/8 in.; 318 x 263 mm), 79 facsimile notes of various sizes. Black-and white buckram box with plexiglass lid containing an offset reproduction of Duchamp's Glider Containing a Water Mill in Neighboring Metals on a mounted plexiglass disc.

"Can one make works which are not works of 'art'?"Copy 39 of 150 numbered copies with Duchamp's signature and date incised by him into the plexiglass. The booklet is also signed by him in pencil.


"In 1964, Duchamp recovered a group of 79 unpublished notes (dating from 1914–23) concerning the Large Glass, 1915–23 …that had been excluded from his original selection of notes for the Green Box, 1934. As most of the notes were written in the infinitive, he titled the publication A l'Infinitif" (Schwarz). The notes were translated into English by Cleve Gray.
