Awarded to the grandfather of the present owner in China during the Republic of China Period prior to his return to France in 1927.

The Order of the Stripped Tiger was created by Yuan Shi Kai on the 6th December 1912. It was the first official decoration created during the newly proclaimed Republic of China. It was primarily meant to reward military officers in the Chinese army but has also been liberally awarded to foreign nationals residing in China during that time. The order was eventually dissolved by Chang Kai Check in 1928.
