A PAIR OF IRISH REGENCY MAHOGANY AND EBONISED WINDOW BENCHES, CIRCA 1805


of trapezoid form, with buttoned green leather squab cushions, above panelled friezes on turned tapering legs

131cm. wide; 4ft. 3½in.

Probably supplied to Nathaniel Clements, 2nd Earl of Leitrim, KP PC (Ire) (1768-1854)

Inventory, 26th September 1807, '2 window stools with cushions to each' in the Library;

Inventory, 10th February 1812, 'Two Window Stools + Cushions' in the Library;

Inventory, April 1830, 'Brown Holland Covers for Sofa and Window Stools' in the Library;

Inventory, 27th June 1836, entry for 'Window stools with stuffed squab to each stool, blue and orange calico, lined cases to the squabs - draperies to the stools with tassels' crossed out and revised in 1844 as 'Two mahogany stools, with turned legs and 2 stuffed leather cushions to same' in the Library.
