Overall the condition of the bronze is very good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is minor tarnishing to the gilt patina in areas such as the shield and some small spots on the forehead. Several original casting pins are slightly visible, including at both upper arms and the proper left thigh. There are a few minor nicks and scratches, including around the proper right elbow and the proper left knee. Minor rubbing and abrasions at the high points, including the proper left elbow. The bottom edge of the base is slightly warped and there is some denting at the back.
